Updated The man who won the largest single lottery jackpot in U.S. history keeps getting into trouble. He was charged on Jan. 25, 2004 with drunk driving. He said he was on his way to Tri-State Racetrack & Gaming when he pulled off of the highway because of the treacherous weather. Earlier in the month, a thief shattered a window to get into his locked sport utility vehicle, parked outside his home, & stole a bank bag containing U$100,000. On Jan. 6, he was charged with trying to hit & threatening to kill Todd Parsons, the manager of a St. Albans' bar, after reportedly being banned from the establishment. In August 2003, a strip club manager & his girlfriend were charged with drugging Whittaker and stealing a briefcase containing U$545,000 in cash and cashier's checks. The money was recovered.
While the jackpot was advertised as U$314.9 million, the actual cash he got after taxes was U$113.4 million, or only 36%.

Andrew "Jack" Whittaker Jr., a 55-year-old millionaire president of three construction companies, won the biggest undivided lottery prize in history. He plans to lavish money on his family, expand his contracting business, & maybe buy a helicopter. He said he would provide 10% or U$17 million to three Church of God pastors & let them control the money & perhaps establish a Christian school. His 33-year old daughter, Ginger McMahan, has had cancer twice. He has 1 grandchild, 15-year old Brandi Bragg. His wife of 36 years, Jewell, said she plans to go to Israel. They live in the small town of Scott Depot.

Forty-five lottery players from across Canada - from Cape Breton to Nanaimo - participated in the draw. While the Fularon's won the $6.49 Million prize, the other 44 draw participants did not walk away from the draw empty- handed, each winning an equal share of $2 Million, or $45,454.60.
The Calgary couple had a sense that they would win. "We just had a feeling last night that we might win, & we kept praying & praying that the feeling would come true."

Sandra Terzievski has spent 25 years managing other people's wealth, but a windfall will turn she & her husband Andy (65) into clients. They were with their son Chris & his wife Michelle.
"I have no intention of quitting my job - I love it too much. And I certainly won't manage the money. Someone else will do that for us," Sandra, 54, said as she & her husband, 65, posed for photographers. It appears Terzievski has a golden touch with other people's wealth, as well as with lotteries, which she & her husband love to play. Last year she won a new car in a hospital lottery. And while on a Florida vacation recently, her husband had a premonition that something big was going to happen.
"When we get back home, we will have millions," he predicted. He retired in 1995 after working 32 years for Canada Packers Inc. She manages the portfolio of wealthy individuals with BMO Harris Private Banking in Mississauga.
